Advice; AF F or LH F for Parents

Advice; AF F or LH F for Parents

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Good day:

    I’m looking for advice here.
I’ll be paying for flights for my parent’s for an anniversary gift and have been vacillating between Air France F and Lufthansa F. Obviously, AF for the ground experience, LH for the in air product.

I’m also looking at originating them (either carrier) on the A380s out of LAX for maximum effect.

The prices aren’t much different between the two carriers, LH is about $300 more / ticket, but I’ve always enjoyed AF’s transfer experience in CDG. I have never flown LH; although, obviously seen your great reviews here–and looked at pictures and other online reviews that all have been positive.

I’ll be joining them, so I’m flying AA to LAX from STT, but I’ll return via MIA at the end for an easy flight back home. For demographical information; my parents are in their middle 60s, but mother has arthritis badly (since she was a teen); so while overall mobility isn’t a giant issue, she also can’t move around/walk for miles after sitting for extended periods of time (at home or in the air)…

    Thoughts? Advice? Opinion?

    Thank you:
    Michael.

judging by reports on SFO777 id go with air france, just try and get on the 777er as that looks like the best product

Michael, where’s your final destination in Europe?

If you can get on Air France’s 77W, I’d go with that option since it’s just 4 passengers in that F cabin, plus the fantastic ground experience. Otherwise, LH F on their A380 will be better than the experience on AF’s A380.

The Lufthansa First Class Lounge in FRA is phenomenal. They pick you up from the plane in a car and bring you to the lounge that has a fantastic restaurant. They do all the customs and baggage checks in the lounge and drive you back to the the connecting flight.

They only pick you up if you land at the remote gate. If your plane comes to the terminal then you have to schlep your stuff a long way to the FCT (which is awesome). But LH ground services are severely lacking in FRA which is a shame.

I think I’d vote for Air France as well. Lufthansa is wonderful if you know the drill, but the ground services are complicated.
