AA Seat Selection
My cousins are on an economy award ticket from LHR to JFK on AA metal. At the time of this post, theres 38 hours before the flight takes off but AA wont let them select seats. Agent says that the airport has taken control of the aircraft. Is this normal? I’ve never herd of this before and find it kind of strange…

hmm I’ve never seen these problems arise when booked directly on an AA flight number.
What happens when they go online? Have they tried HUCA?
They’ve tried on a tablet, I’ve tried on my phone with the AA app and desktop browser and nothing works. I didnt call AA a 2nd time, I’ll call tomorrow
If the flight is under airport control they won’t be able to select seats. They *may* be able to select seats when doing online check-in.
Totally normal for the seatmap to be under airport control eventually, a bit unusual that it happened so far out, but it’s not super weird or something I’d be concerned about.
Thanks! They arent able to select seats at check in so they’re just going to get it done at LHR.
