AA blocking CX premium awards?
Hi, routings that are showing up as available on the BA and Qantas websites are unavailable when I try to book through AA. Example routing is HKG to LHR in CX First for 2 people – BA and Qantas show as available 12/20/15, 12/21/15, 10/11/16, 10/17/16. None of these are bookable through AA. Is anyone else having the same problem?
Are you trying to book online or are you calling to make the reservation?
If online –
The AA website does not display any CX availability, it has to be searched through BA, Qantas or JAL. Once you find the availability you can call to book or hold the reservation, and there will be no phone fee since the fare is not bookable on the website.
Good Article on how to search various partners who are not integrated into the AA web system –

If you are calling and they aren’t seeing the award space – yikes.
Hi @Becca, and welcome!
Can you tell me a bit more about what the AA agent said to you on the phone? I had an issue booking some CX flights yesterday, but it’s hard to tell if there’s a lag, a glitch, or something else without more data points. Would love to hear more of your experience!

Hi yes unfortunately calling and trying to book partner spaces that show up as available on BA and Qantas was unsuccessful

Hi – I asked for the specific date and flight number that showed up as having space available on both BA and Qantas, and the agent simply said “first class is unavailable but business class is”. On one of the dates that I tried, although there were 2 spaces showing up as available, only 1 of them was able to be booked. For the other 3 dates, no spaces were able to be booked although 2 were displayed as available.
@Becca — Hmmm…. Sometimes there is a system lag. Have you tried calling back?
In terms of research — did you check against the JAL site? Or do you want to share any of the dates so we can look at it?
I don’t think space is being intentionally blocked (at this point), but these are good steps to follow.
@Becca–also was this with the US AA office?

Hi Tiffany yes it’s showing on JAL too! The dates I looked at were 12/20/15, 12/21/15, 10/11/16, 10/17/16 for 2 people – the agent said he showed availability for 1 seat in F on 12/20 but no other dates!

Yes! Does it make a difference?
There have been reports of the US call center not seeing EY availability correctly but other offices being able to book. Try the Australian center via google hangouts/skype.
Hey @Becca — Did you have any luck on the phone? I just called and they were able to see the 2 F seats from HKG to LHR on the 12/20 and 12/21 flights.
So weird! I just called, they can see the seats on Dec. 20 but can’t see the ones further out in October 2016. Maybe they will release them closer to the date…? This is calling both US and Australia AAdvantage. I’ll keep trying in the next few months and see if anything changes. Thanks guys!
I didn’t see the October seats on the BA site yesterday either, so perhaps there was just a bit of a delay? Good luck!
