AA 10% redemption bonus for award travel
I have an AAdvantage Platinum Select MC which offers the 10% bonus miles on up to 100k miles/year. Does it matter which card I use to pay for the award flight taxes/fees? I.e., is the 10% bonus automatically linked to my AA account or do I also have to pay the taxes/fess with the AAdvantage MC in order to get the bonus miles? I’d like to book a couple award flights w my Amex Gold but getting the 10% bonus miles back from AA would be a priority. Thanks in advance!

Thomas_P – I’m almost positive that just holding the card will get you the 10% in miles back and you don’t have to use the card to pay for the taxes & fees.
@MidSouth Skier is right! Your card is linked to your AAdvantage account, so you don’t need to use it to get the rebate. Good question!
@Tiffany Does this work with the Advantage reduced mileage award airports? So I could get 10% off, plus the decreased airport miles of 7500 round trip? If so, that’s a nice deal…
@Yukon – you’re right it’s a great deal! Yes, the 10% mileage rebate is good on the first 100K miles you redeem each calendar year, even including the reduced mileage awards.
