I like to purchase a RT from ATL to LAX on DL and another RT from LAX to TPE on China Airlines.
Once I’ve done that, can I call DL to have my RT ticket from ATL to LAX linked to LAX to TPE on China Airlines?
The reason I’m asking is so my luggage can go all the way from ATL to TPE, instead of taking them out at LAX and check in them in at the China Airlines counter to go from LAX to TPE.

I find it to easier to show them your CI ticket at the ATL check in counter – they should be able to thru check bags on a separate ticket. Even if you call and “link” the tix together, it’s still not a single ticket.

Remember though – thru checking is not [I]required[/I] by the airline so the agent can refuse to do it.

On your return even if you thru check bags, you have to pick up bags at LAX to clear immigration before rechecking to your next flight.

You can just ask the check in agent in Atlanta to check your luggage in all the way to TPE! Just have your booking itinerary ready for them with all the information (flight number, booking class, e-ticket number). With that they should be able to check in the luggage all the way through.
