The question might sound stupid but as I have not much an idea about these travel programs mabye somebody here can help.
I travel for business and have since 3 years a BAEC Silver = OW Sapphire. Now I read about Statusmatch a lot and thought about Cathay Pacific MP as I travel them more frequently but actually I’m not really aware what a statusmatch means?
Will I lose BAEC Silver and my card is transferred to CX or will I have both status means I will be BAEC Silver and CX Silver (or whatever)o_O What happens with the BA points? Is BAEC Silver to CX Silver a downgrade because fo the OW features?

    Hi Alex,

You would keep your BA Silver membership, and also gain Cathay Pacific status. And yes, BA Silver is equivalent to Cathay Gold (OneWorld Sapphire).

You wouldn’t lose the points in your BA account. When you book a ticket, you’ll have to decide where you’d like to credit those points. Typically we all use wheretocredit.com to look at the different options and point values.

Status matching essentially would just give you a head start to earn and maintain status with Cathay.

    Hope that makes sense!
