Does this mean if you received SPG Gold from Amex Platinum ergo Marriott Gold you get Marriott platinum in August. Or do you still remain Marriott Gold in August? Therefore screwing people over of the lounge access/breakfast.

You get Marriott Platinum with the new program in August, up until the end of the current benefit year. Next year you’ll be Marriott Silver via the Amex Card, unless you stay enough nights to earn a higher elite tier.
