SkyMiles or FlyingBlue?

SkyMiles or FlyingBlue?

1. Anonymous Guest

Hello all,

Due to bad planning, my flights this year were split between Delta and KLM/AirFrance.
It was not enough to bring me to SkyMiles Silver and not enough to get me to FlyingBlue silver.
I have one more trip this year from Europe to the US and back. This trip can get me to Silver status in either SkyMiles or FlyingBlue – depends on the company I choose.
So, someone told me that since they both belong to SkyTeam it does not matter and it may even be possible to combine the miles (is it really?).
Someone else told me that FlyingBlue respects SkyMiles status but not the other way around so I should fly Delta.
I tried to read the terms online but it tends to be very confusing.

Any suggestions on how to maximize my current situation?

Thanks!!!

Do you have any goals for the miles you have? If you think you’d ever be interested in redeeming miles for first class, you should go after Flying Blue status. They only allow First Class redemptions for elite members in their own program. Delta can’t redeem for anything above business class.

In case it makes a difference know that to keep your FB miles active you must credit a flight on AF/KLM or one of their SkyTeam partners every 2 years. Delta miles do not expire.
