Possible to buy my way to Alaska MVP Gold?
I’m at 35k miles, and am probably going to finish the year at 38 or 39k miles, so 11-12k short of 50k to qualify for MVP Gold.
I’m doing a ton of domestic travel in 2016, and will by flying coach, so would benefit a lot from the more frequent/liberal MVP Gold upgrades.
I’ve heard that you can at times buy your way to MVP Gold based on your current status and history.
Anyone have tips or info?
@T.Chow have you tried calling AS to see what they can offer?
@Gaurav I did call them and they said the policy they’ve been given is only to help if you’re within 5000 miles of a status level. Unfortunately it looks like i’ll be 11-12k miles short.
I tried to push on it by telling them I’m a long time AS credit card holder, long time MVP, etc etc. She put me on hold once to find out, but came back empty handed.
That’s unfortunate. Have you taken a look at the mileage running forum over on Flyer Talk? You might be able to get the balance with one or two strategically planned runs?
