Oneworld or star alliance

Oneworld or star alliance

    Hi Lucky and all!

I am an Oneworld Gold(BA) and have enough tier points to retain for next year. My membership reset is in mid April. I’m travelling to Asia over the Christmas, and wondering whether I should fly on Oneworld carrier ( either Cathay or Qatar) or star Alliance carrier (SAS, Lufthansa, or ANA) from London.

I have SAS membership. They are currently offering good deal for business class seat. So if I fly with SAS I will be SAS silver which does not look generous membership as they don’t let you use the lounge except summer and Christmas. I may be able to make another star alliance business class trip before the reset in which case I will be able to obtain SAS gold.

If you were in my situation would you fly to Asia on Oneworld or star alliance ?

    Many thanks !! 🙂

Do you need/want status with another alliance?
OW has decent products to Asia – Finnair/Cathay/Japan/Qatar and if I’m not able to fly enough to maintain top tier with both alliances, I’d stick to one.
