One World Gold status vs 1-time trip on Emirates 1st Class

One World Gold status vs 1-time trip on Emirates 1st Class

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi Lucky & other members,

    I have a (nice) minor dilemma to ponder;
    I will shortly be making a business class trip from London to Auckland. there are various options available, but the 2 relevant choices for the same time/price are between a British Airways/Cathay Pacific combo or Emirates/Quantas combo (Emirates booking ref, so no OneWorld earned miles).

    I am a member of the BA OneWorld Executive Club and use BA for most of my flights and this trip would tip me into Gold (Emerald) Status, a level I’m unlikely to achieve through my normal short-haul travels.

    Great, however the alternative option is with Emirates in which one of the 16 hour legs is in First Class (due to no availability in business) which from reading the trip guides on the site looks truely awesome!

    Dilemma is not which class is better, that’s obvious, but rather a 1-time First class experience with Emirates worth forfeiting a years worth of gold status & all the benefits & points multipliers associated with it?

    Any thoughts?
    Alex
