Best Rewards Program for A global Software Consultant based in Zurich, Switzerland

    Hey all,

I am new to this site even though I spend a third of my year in airplanes — I travel at least once a week in Europe, Middle East, and frequently to the US and Brazil. I live in Zurich and have a Miles and More credit card which offers pretty lousy rewards and is a sad/low energy program altogether. I purchase most of my tickets in cash (company expenses it) and I hardly ever use the meager miles that I get from the CC to book travel since it doesn’t seem possible. My US based friends keep telling me to switch to Silver/Gold Amex, SPG or Chase Saphire but since I do not hold a bank account in the USA I don’t think I can swing it. If any of you brave hackers have any suggestions or advice about maximizing I would greatly appreciate any tips on programs or credit cards that would help me maximize my travels and actually earn rewards.

    Many things,

    -GD
