I am reading the conditions of american advantage and there is one thing I cannot understand. I expect to qualify for gold status on May 5. After I qualify for gold status, will I need to earn another 25000 to qualify for platinum or will I need to earn another 50000 to qualify for platinum? Thank you!

you’d need an additional 25000 qualifying miles to go from gold to platinum within the same qualification period. so if you just reached gold, you need to gain the EQMs by the end of this qualifying year (end of jan 2017 i believe)
