USA to Machu Pichu / Galapagos Island

USA to Machu Pichu / Galapagos Island

Hello Lucky and readers,

4 of us are looking to book a trip to Machu Pichu (Cusco Peru) with a stop over to Galapagos Island OR Patagonia.

Are there any carriers / alliances that will allow an award trip to Galapagos island and Machu Pichu?

The long haul we will like to do business class. I won’t be surprise that Galapagos Island might be small of an airport that there are limited choices how to get there.

Any creative suggestion folks?

Where are you flying from? Looks like all flights to the Galapagos leave from Quito or Guayaquil. Neither airport is far enough from the US to offer much of a premium cabin on the long haul. If you’re doing Patagonia, you have to connect in Buenos Aires or Santiago, which definitely offers some nicer options for premium cabins from the States.

We will start from NYC tri airport and are open to connecting to other cities to make the trip worth while.

We are hoping to fit either

Trip 1
Galapagos and Machu Pichu
OR
Trip 2
Machu Pichu and Patagonia

The question is what’s the best way for Trip 1

Got it. I think the most “fun” option would be LAN from jfk to Lima, connecting to Cuzco for Machu Picchu. That’s a dreamliner flight.

You’d then have to connect back through Lima to get to Ecuador for the Galapagos flight.

Out of the big 3 US, you could get Delta One on 777 out of Atlanta, if you want a connection?

Agreed. I looked into this a few years ago and ended up skipping Galapagos although we hope to go back some day. Although cities seem pretty close to each other there is often backtracking to hubs involved to get to where you want to go and logistics make it hard to do on one award. @Tiffany, any ideas?

Thanks!

Lan seems like a good choice.

Any suggestion for the patagonia routing?
