Six hours in HKG – any recommendations?

Six hours in HKG – any recommendations?

We’re transiting HKG in a couple of days. Arriving at 825 AM and flying out at 605 PM. I think that gives us about six hours in HKG after allowing for return security and lounge visits. Any recommendations on things to do in the city in that time frame?

What kinds of things do you like to do? The gondola made for a pretty easy outing, with the potential for some light hiking. But obviously doesn’t give you much of a sense of the city itself.

We’re pretty flexible. After being in the Maldives some walking around might be nice. I’ll look into the gondola thing but we’d be open to any other fun/quirky/interesting activities people would recommend :).

With 6 hours you can probably take the Airport Express (same day return journey is free!) to HK Island and take the Peak Tram up to the top, see a good portion of HK and Victoria Harbor. Then maybe take the bus down since it’s also pretty scenic.

@Tiffany by gondola do you mean Ngong Ping 360 and the Big Buddah? That’s also a pretty good way to spend a few hours, even if its just to ride the cable cars. If you dont have a fear of heights, maybe spring for the crystal cabin?

Gondola and Budhha are fun, cheap, and easy to get to. Just take a taxi (make sure it’s a Lantai taxi, separate queue, well marked) to the cable car bottom station. If you have time, you could visit the outlet mall near the bottom station upon return.

The Peak tram is fun, though crowded at all hours of day and night.

The tram through Wan Chai is fun day or night, sit up the top.

The bus to Shek O Beach is also fun. Likewise, sit at the top front for the best ride. Mad skillz by the drivers. There’s places to hop off for hikes along here too.

Thanks all! It was a little bit anti climactic. We were exhausted after a red-eye from CMB and it was overcast and awful looking outside so we just hibernated at the Pier and redeemed my wife’s 94 IHG game plays to earn some points. We’re passing through HKG again in August for an overnight stop over so will make sure to take all these recommendations with us then!
