Route suggestions for SAS Gold status mileage run
Hello fellow frequent flyers
Today I need your help and creative suggestions!
I want to get to SAS Gold status.
Sadly I won’t be doing a lot of flying this year and the flying I’m doing, even though Business J or D is mostly on Edelweiss Air (Marrakesh and Edinbourough). Even though this flight is booked through Swiss those flights can’t be credited to any frequent flyer program except of miles and more and even there you’ll just receive normal miles and no status miles. (Kind of annoying since Swiss is using Edelweiss to expand their routes). I am already looking into changing the return flight of both legs (over GVA, MUC or FRA on clean LX respectively LH flights to receive some miles at least).
Currently I have 8000 points from my ZRH-AGP flight.
Now I’d still need about 37k miles more (not including the possible other 8000 I’d earn with the above rerouting). Does anybody of you have suggestions for cheap and fast Business or First class flights that’d earn me the necessary miles? Travel between 30.08 and 16.09 would be most convenient. Base airport would be ZRH.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
What’s your budget? This seems like a pretty good deal to me

it’s a good suggestion, but doesn’t quite get you there. You would be 10K miles short

If you are in Europe and want to to status run on *A flights down under is the way to go.
And it just so happens that there is sale on right now out of Milan to SYD/LAX.

Your best bet will be a combination of Swiss and Air New Zealand as they earn 200% on all Bis classes.
Since.flysas.com seems to be down again, try the Norwegian site for earning charts

There is also the Wideroe explore Norway ticket.

Not sure if it’s possible to earn Gold by distance, but qualifying by segments have been possible in the past.

But this require a lot of flying.
And if down under sound too cold during southern winter and Norway on T-props sound too stressful, there is Bud-HNL for sale.

Will leave you a bit short on miles, unfortunately.

If end up a bit short consider taking a flight in SAS Plus inside Europe, ZRH-CPH-AMS-CPH-ZRH goes for around 600 USD for a 1 night stay aka flying out MON returning TUE. Fare seems to be available MON-THU from middle of August until middle of December.
Would earn you 6000 points@1500 per segment.

While AMS is the cheapest option, most airports in UK, Poland or Germany that SK fly to is also possible for a bit higher price. BRU and Paris also seems possible.
Thanks a lot for your suggestions no name!
I will probably settle for the MXP-AKL run.
On another note: Sadly you can’t earn Gold by segments of the Explore Norway ticket anymore. You just get a fixed mile number now. This used to be a great way to get Gold status and visit a beautiful country.
Again thanks very much for your suggestions!
