hello friends,
On the 12th of this month, I flew Air Canada from YQM-YYZ, at the time of check in, since I was a little late, I was told that I would be allowed to check in but my bags may not be on the same flight, the desk agent said worst case scenario the bag would come on the next flight in the same day.
However, at the time of check-in she spoke with some baggage handlers and they said it would be fine so I was expecting my bag at the time of arrival but it did not turn out on the baggage belt.
I approached Air Canada’s baggage services and they made a case for me and tracked my bag but until now, there has been no information regarding my bag. In my checked bag I had my passport as well.
I know it’s stupid of me to keep my passport in a checked bag, but at the time of packing I was in a hurry and I completely forgot about it.
It’s been more than a day and I have not received any news about my bag, air Canada seems to be very calm and they don’t seem to care, because of this deay I had to miss my flight from JFK-AUH.
Can somebody please advise and help me?

Ow. That hurts! I’m sure AC will get you the bag as soon as they can but other than following up regularly I’m not sure you can accomplish anything. Where are you located now? Can you go to your embassy or consulate to get a new passport? Most countries provide this on an emergency basis. Also, have you contacted EY about your flight? Not sure if your ticket was refundable or changeable but the right person might be able to help you reschedule even though they are under no obligation to do so. Good luck!
