ITA Matrix : cannot find same cheapest fare (V) as official airline website ?
Hi,
I tried to use ITA Matrix to find a round trip between HKG and HND, with example dates of 12-17 August 2016, direct flight with Cathay, preferable CX548/549.
Cheapest fare given by ITA Matrix is ~11253 HKD
Same itinerary on CX website costs ~6423 HKD
Any reason ?
It’s my first time using ITA Matrix, so I expected to find at least the same itineraries and prices as on the official airline website, with more powerful tools.
Thanks.

AsianAdventure were you using the same sales city and currency settings for both searches?
Interesting. I only have a passing knowledge of ITA matrix but the only difference I can spot between the two is that ITA is showing “B” fare class prices while the CX site is showing V. I wonder if CX does not release lower priced inventory to agent channels. Maybe someone else knows? @Tiffany?

Well know fact that CX don’t always release the cheapest tickets to agent channels, remember Luckys return from the Maldives last year? Only on CX website.
