Is this REALLY First Class??
I booked (through America Express Platinum) a First Class ticket departing at 5 am with a quick stop to change planes then arriving at my destination around 11:15 am. Just before I left for the airport I received a message from America Airlines stating my flight was delayed new departure time 9 am. Then about an hour later I received another message. Due to the delay I would miss my connection when I changed planes so America Airlines changed by flights. Now I stuck with a 9 hour layover!! In addition, my ticket went from First Class to Business class!!! I paid for first class no points or free upgrades I purchased and paid for first class!! America Airlines will not give me any credit, points, complimentary ticket, nothing!! They keep telling me Business and First class are exactly the same on their flights. In fact the only seating available is economy or business class, so they will not issue me any type of credit!!
Is this legal? Is AA’s business class the same as first class? How or why is it AA can just change my flight without asking first?? What can I do??
@Berlee — Welcome!
If this was a domestic trip, that delay is definitely terrible, but unless you were flying nonstop between LAX and JFK, American flights only have two cabins — economy, and “domestic first / business”, which are used interchangeably, and are the exact same seat/meal/service.
