Etihad a380 or Qatar a350 – CMB-JFK or BOS

Etihad a380 or Qatar a350 – CMB-JFK or BOS

I’m trying to decide on a return flight from Colombo to the states in paid business. The best and most enticing options boil down to an Etihad a320/a380 or a Qatar a340/a350. I haven’t flown either carrier or either plane (I know… I know). Would be booking paid business class and I’m looking for the “best” total experience, including lounges, etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You cant go wrong with either option. Both airlines have great products from DOH/AUH-JFK.

Personally I think QR has a slight advantage since you’ll be flying a widebody to DOH, they have a large, dedicated J lounge in DOH and their A350s have reverse herringbone seats.

With EY, it’ll be a narrow body plane to AUH, a shared F/J lounge which can get really crowded but you clear US Customs in AUH, theres a smaller lounge after customs and their business product is fairly comfortable, especially if you get a forward facing window seat. It’s pretty private. You’d also arrive in the US as a domestic passenger plus EY chauffeur service to your destination in NY.

I dont think there is a “best” product for CMB-JFK but each carrier has pros and cons. Read thru the reviews on here and select the one you feel most excited about!
