Airport Transfers in Iceland

Airport Transfers in Iceland

This fall I’m going with a group to Iceland. Most of the folks will be flying direct from the US and have ground transportation included with their tour package. Four of us are going to spend a few days in Europe on either side of the trip.

We’re arriving at KEF the day before the group arrives and had planned to spend the night at the airport hotel and ride the bus into the city with the group. Then we found out the tour company wants to charge us $110 each way.

I see there’s something called Flybus for $29 pp. Trip Advisor reviews seem to be mixed, either folks love it or hate it. One of the others in my small group of four also found a private transfer for $45 pp though I’m not sure of the company name (though Holiday Taxi fits that price). I also see Shuttle Direct for about $15 more pp.

I looked through Ben’s trip reports and didn’t see how he made that transfer, though feel free to point it out to me if I just overlooked it. I’ve heard a taxi can be quite expensive.

For our trip from the airport into town, the Flybus would probably be fine. We arrive in the middle of the afternoon and have no set time we need to be anywhere.

But our flight back to Europe is at 7:20 AM and I’m not sure I want to be on a shuttle bus making multiple stops while I wonder if I’m going to make my flight or not, so I’m thinking private transfer on that one.

I’ve looked at Blacklane but they don’t operate in Iceland, nor does Uber.

    Other suggestions?

My SIL and brother used Flybus and had no complaints.
