SPG AMEX, time to diversify spending?

SPG AMEX, time to diversify spending?

I primarily use my SPG Amex card for all non-groceries, pharmacy, gas stations, and non-SPG travel. And I’ve racked up 300k+ SPG points over the years and haven’t used them yet. Given the merger and the likelihood of a new combined SPG/Marriott reward program should I start reducing my spend on my SPG Amex in anticipation of a devaluation? What card would I use in place of it? The points value of my ultimate rewards Gold AMEX seems to be going down as well so I’d need a new credit card.

I’d start diversifying, not due to threat of merger (you’ll realistically have until 2018), but because you have 300k+, so it’s time to diversify regardless.

What other points and cards do you have at present?

In general, and depending on what currency you’d like to accrue, I’d look at AmEx Everyday Preferred, Chase Freedom Unlimited, and the Citi double cash.
