Southwest Credit Card Signup Bonus

Southwest Credit Card Signup Bonus

    Hi Lucky,

I was wondering if you have any insight on the current southwest credit card signup bonus? I read here (http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/southwest-companion-pass-free-flights-how-to) that its 50,000 and see that on the link in this article. However, on Southwests website I was seeing only 25,000.

gwperry, it’s not unusual for there to be several different credit card bonuses for the same card. As you can imagine, companies would like to pay as little as possible to acquire new customers. I imagine that the assumption is that someone shopping at the SW site probably needs less convincing to sign up for the card than other people. It is also not unusual for credit card companies to vary the offer over time. The southwest cards have pretty reliably offered 50k bonuses on a regular basis in the past.

Before applying for a credit card I usually google for the best offer. In this case I’d probably say “Chase Southwest credit card best offer” to see what is out there. You’ll also see links on travel blogs like this one and others so it’s worthwhile to see if the best offer is available through them so you can support sites you frequent. Ben’s links are under the Best Credit Cards above (the one under airline credit cards doesn’t seem to be working but there is a working offer under the 10 best credit card list).

If you can accumulate 110,000 points the SW Companion Pass is a fantastic value, probably the best in domestic travel. Now is the ideal time to do it since you will get almost two full years to use the status.
