So I’m in a bit of a rut here… (AAdvantage)

So I bought 270,000 AAdvantage miles last year during a Buy Miles promo, and now I’m realising I can’t use my points without a US credit card (I live in Hong Kong and also have a UK credit card). Sure, I can call my local call center (I’m guessing – I haven’t tried), but it looks like my local call center doesn’t have access to certain airlines, such as Etihad award space. Is there anything I can do, or is the call center the way to go with this?

Your local call center probably has more access to Etihad award space 😉 Hong Kong is where I generally call to get things done!

Anyway, you can put a ticket on hold with any call center, and then call one issued in the region of your credit card, and they can reprice the fees in local currency and charge you. Shouldn’t be a big deal.
