Hi there, My husband and I would like to fly business class to Paris from the US for our anniversary. But we are just beginning to research how to go about earning awards and are finding it a little overwhelming. If I’m just focused on earning points towards these upgraded flights, which credit card (s) would you recommend?

[USER=2700]@Marie[/USER]–I’m assuming you’re not a frequent flier with status in airline or alliance. In general, today I would say that both of you should apply for the Chase Reserve card if you can swing the $450 annual fee (you will get back a minimum $1600 in travel back). The online offer expires today but you have a little more time if you have access to a physical Chase branch. After meeting the minimum spend requirements you will have at least 208,000 ultimate rewards points which should help you on your way to your goals. If you need a few more there are a few other cards that can help you get there.

Couple of caveats:
This assumes you are not an active credit card applicant because Chase will reject anyone with more than five new card accounts opened in the last 24 months. Also understand that while frequent flyer miles bookings can lead to amazing experiences at low costs, there is a trade off with flexibility so there may not always be tickets available if you don’t have any flexibility. The nice thing about UR is that you can also redeem them as cash towards paid options. Feel free to ask other questions you might have.
