Justifying 2 Southwest cards
I recently applied for two Southwest cards [on the same day], trying to get the 75K bonuses before they ended. I was approved for one, but not the other. I received a rejection letter in the mail stating “Too many requests for credit or opened accounts with us”.
I have a total of (4) Chase cards, including the newly approved Southwest card and I am well below 5/24. I have +$100K income and 830 FICO.
I was going to call the reconsideration line, as I really want the second bonus for the companion pass, but what could I say to them to convince or justify my application for two similar cards? I have never had to call reconsideration line before, but I know you are not supposed to mention bonus miles.
You are only allowed one Southwest personal card at a time regardless of income, credit score, or 5/24 status. You can now try to apply for a business card to earn the companion pass. I recently got two southwest business cards about two months apart (earned the cc with them) then applied for and was approved for a personal Southwest card last week to earn more miles.
Hope this helps.
