Ink 5X Bonus on Google Fi?

Ink 5X Bonus on Google Fi?

  1. Anonymous Guest

    Hi,

I’ve read Tiffany’s article on Googles project Fi and seem to remember it saying that transactions were coded as something that wouldn’t allow for the 5x bonus on ink. I wanted to report that I spoke to a representative today about their service and I asked him if he knew “how the transaction would appear on a credit card statement”, his reply “phone service”. I said, “so you code the transaction as “phone service” “. His reply “yes”. I don’t know much about how any of that works behind the scenes between the vendor and the credit issuing banks but I thought I’d mention my experience here to see if anyone can shed some light on what they’re seeing. FYI, even without the 5x bonus, google fi is the way to go for me. Thanks for the great articles on T-Mobile and Google Fi recently. I was doing the comparison and it helped immensely. Let me know what you find.

I just looked at my last Ink statement and Google Fi does not code as a bonus category unfortunately. It would be nice if they would fix that.

Hopefully this is a permanent change but on my October statement Fi is coded as 5x (was only 1x in September). Lets see if this sticks.
