Chase 24 Month Bonus Rule
This is related to Ben’s post about the 24 month rule on Citi, however related to Chase.
I currently have the United Explorer Card and have had it for more than 24 months. With the new bonus I am tempted to cancel the card and reapply, however my question is (a) how long do you have to wait after canceling a card to reapply and (b) does Chase have a rule like Citi where you can only apply for a card every x days.
My reading of the rules is that I could cancel or downgrade my UA card today and apply tomorrow, but I doubt they will give me the bonus, it reads “This product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this credit card within the last 24 months.”
Does anyone have experience with this?
You could cancel and reapply but just make sure to count from the date that the last bonus was issued and not when you last opened the card. UA cards are subject to 5/24 as well so you’ll need to be mindful of that.
