Where has all EY GuestSeat availability gone?

Where has all EY GuestSeat availability gone?

For the last few weeks I’ve been searching on Etihad.com for business or First availability on any USA to AUH route with EY (to use my AA miles). No matter how far out or close I search, everything looks “sold out” under the GuestSeat category for both Business and First availability.

Is anyone else seeing the same? Has EY completely turned off its GuestSeat availability online? Is this a glitch? I haven’t tried to call the AA number to see if they can see it, but online at least it looks completely unavailable on Etihad.com. Any insights appreciated…

@TravelDesi, just did a random search for next week for IAD-AUH and there is availability every day, often for multiple seats. Where/how are you checking?

Sorry I should have been more clear…I guess I meant, there isn’t any availability if you search out past the next 2 weeks. The availability you showed goes away after 28th June. In the past, I’ve been able to see availability 11 months out or even a couple months out. But it just looks completely unavailable beyond 2 weeks. Is this a new trend with EY, not releasing space until last minute?

Interesting, I see one seat on 7/10 but you’re right there’s not much else for this route. EY has been known to release seats in spurts in the past but I’m not aware of any systemic changes to awards. @Tiffany?

    Hey @TravelDesi, and welcome!

I don’t think it’s a systemic change, just that availability is tight in the interim months. Keep in mind a crazy amount of AA miles were redeemed for Etihad awards this year. If I look at the end of the schedule I see plenty of flights with award space, which is normal.

Thanks @Tiffany . Can you give me an example or two of “at the end of the schedule I see plenty of flights with award space”? Because at least for JFK, LAX, IAD, and DFW to AUH, there is nothing available in business class in April or May2017. In the past, 10-11 months out would be wide open, but doesn’t seem that way now at least.

@TravelDesi — I was looking at first, but look the other way. Sometimes the space only shows up on the website if you’re looking at a roundtrip from Abu Dhabi.
