What number do I call when abroad to change an AA award ticket?

    Hi all– I have an award ticket (business studio) on the thursday flight AUH-JFK and want to change it to a date a few days later.
    Do I call Etihad or American? If the latter, I’m already abroad, and the AAdvantage 800 number does not seem to work when you’re abroad.

    Can someone advise?

    Also I know that changes to award tickets are free but since I’ll be making the changes only a few days before, would there be any penalties?

    Since you’re using AA miles, you’ll need to contact American. Here are the local UAE phone numbers for them:

    [USER=278]@Adi[/USER]-If the UAE office is not able to help you (AA has been having issues seeing EY space, try the Australia number on the source link above).You may be hit with a close in fee of $75.

    I’m curious why the american 800 number is not working for you. Are you dialing +1 before the 800 number?
