I booked on ua a flight iah to fra on z class and try to use a gobal upgrade but now need to rebook in d class which costs another 1100 and then they will try to book the upgrade. Is it better to try for the upgrade at 14 days out or is it better to wait for just before leaving. If i could ask your advise on the best use of miles for a business travler who pays for himself international almost only on ual 2.3 million miles and 1.7 on amex which I’ve not used much,better to upgrade on partner airlines or award travel ?
