travel to west coast help
I am looking to travel from the east coast(Boston or NYC) around the third week of June 2016 for approx. 10 days. Dates are flexible to either LAX or San Diego International Airport. 2 ppl will be traveling. I currently have the following in points, Looking for best way to redeem /consolidate?
AMX MR 58K
AMX Delta 38K
Jet Blue 30K
Southwest 30K
IHG 110K
@Tom L generally domestic travel isn’t the best use of points so if you travel internationally it might be best to save your points for better redemptions. With that being said, if you need to use points for this trip, JetBlue is fairly straightforward with redemptions being based on ticket price. You just need to look at prices to see what your points can buy you. You can top up your points if needed by applying for the new Barclays JetBlue card.
DL is hard to find saver award space with but not impossible. You’ll need to spend some time playing with the DL website and look at connection options to finds something that prices at the low level. You’ll need to send some of your MR over to DL to top up the account and book.
You could also search for space on United or Air Canada and transfer 50k MR to Aeroplan to book there.

Thanks I understand JetBlue and understand using for overseas travel is better value can MR be transferred to jet blue and delta 1:1 if I need? have you heard when Barclays jet blue will be available, When it is will grab that and cancel the AMX version
@Tom L MR transfers 1:1 to DL and 1.25MR:1JetBlue point. I think I read somewhere that the Barclays product change was happening soon. If you want to get the bonus again I would cancel your card now before you get autochanged and then apply for the new Barclays card.

Thanks you what is autocharged? Also what would be the best way to get to Hawaii around the same time or later this year using MR how can you get the 30K RT I ready about in places?
@Tom L – “auto-changed” not “auto-charged” That’s when you automatically get changed over to the new product. You would not get a sign-up bonus in that situation.
What kind of Delta Amex do you have? Is there any companion cert that comes with it? Any way to leverage that?
