Transfer to MileagePlus or keep in Ultimate Rewards

Transfer to MileagePlus or keep in Ultimate Rewards

    Hi,

I currently have Premier Silver status with United and have about 46,000 United miles in my account. I also have the Chase Sapphire Rewards card and about 51,000 Ultimate Rewards. I know that my ultimate goals will influence what I do here, but would I be better off to transfer my ultimate rewards at 1:1 to United to beef up my balance and save for award travel there or keep building up Ultimate Rewards through CC churning to use those rewards for better value?

    Thanks,

    John

UR to UA transfers are instant. I would keep them in UR unless you are cancelling the card. If you have other UR earning cards like the Ink you can transfer to them before cancelling. I will keep them in UR till I book an award on UA. I have transferred to UA after making a call to the agent and right before they were ready to ticket me off.
UR is flexible. Don’t transfer ahead of time.
