tracking last-minute Cathay availability

tracking last-minute Cathay availability

Hello! I’m very excited to be traveling to Asia soon for the first time. I’m currently booked (using AA miles) along with my fiancee on a connecting flight home from Hong Kong on Cathay Pacific in F with a stop at LAX before continuing home to JFK on AA. If at all possible, I’d love to switch onto one of the direct CX HKG-JFK flights on the same day. This would save several hours of travel (sleep!) time.

I know from Lucky’s posts and from recently logging into the British Airways site that Cathay often opens up more award availability just a few days in advance, but so far I haven’t found a way to track that availability other than by repeatedly logging into the BA site. As far as I can tell, Expert Flyer alerts aren’t available for CX flights.

So, my question: does anyone know of a better way to be alerted when CX seats become available?

    Thank you very much.

    Anthony

You’re right, no Expert Flyer for CX so you’ll just have to keep checking. It’s a bummer but as far as I’m aware it’s the only option.

I think changing the airline mix from CX/AA to just CX will trigger a reprice of the award since you’re be moving from an AA and oneworld partner award to a pure partner award.

Maybe try to get on their flights to ORD/BOS and connect?

Thank you to all of you. Interesting points. Will also have to think about whether this would trigger a reprice. I sure hope not, although I see your logic. Hmm.
