Tools used by pointspro and other booking services

    Hi,

I’ve been using tools like KVS and Expert flyer but I have to say that those tools are not great for quickly finding multiple award availabilities on many different routes… So I’m curious, do the award service companies like pointspro have their own script that they use to find availability? Or do you do this manually…

It seems to me that doing manual search would take a significant amount of time and would be difficult to offer the service for $200…

Anyway, just curious. If it’s proprietary information, just ignore it.

Nope, it’s very manual — the tools out there aren’t any faster than we can do on our own, and we’ve tried all of them.

What helps is knowing where to look, and what doesn’t need to be messed with, which saves some time. But yes, we should probably be charging ~4x what we do given the time and detail required.

Thanks Tiffany for your answer! It actually surprised me that there weren’t better tools available but then if there were better tools, there’d probably be even less award availability left:)

By the way, do you handle complex trips with multiple layovers over multiple months? How much does it cost compared to a basic one way ticket?

@tomasl I believe they do handle those types of tickets. There are limitations to each award programs’ ticketing and itinerary rules so the pricing may be based on a per-ticket basis and will result in addititonal fees for their services.
