Sydney to LAX via Honolulu?

Sydney to LAX via Honolulu?

Still trying to find a return ticket from Australia for my friend. We got her a ticker there on Quantas thru Alaska (yay!). Problem is getting her back. Looking to book around January 4th (peak season of course!) so it’s impossible to find anything on the dates she wants.

She has 30k SPG points (35 with the bonus) and about 65k Chase points. She has difficulty sitting for too long, otherwise we would have gotten her premium economy on Singapore from SIN to LA.

I was looking up Hawaiian airlines because it looks pretty direct but don’t know who they partner with so she can use her points accordingly. Premium economy for that flight time is fine, but business preferred.

We’re still considering a last minute ticket with SPG thru Virgin Australia but that makes her VERY nervous. She doesn’t want to get stuck there. Any ideas?

I feel like you said something a while back about having Australia-US all sorted out but needed help getting your friend to Australia…

Anyway, have you looked into Korean Air? If I’m reading their charts correctly, one way Oceania to US is 55k in econ, 97.5k for business and 120k for first, since it’s during off peak season. You can transfer from Chase and SPG to SkyPass, though I’d consider opening a new Chase card to get UR points to transfer instead of transferring SPG points.

You’re not going to find saver space on Hawaiian in business, I don’t think, and they don’t have a true premium economy product.

@David W I thought so too but she changed her mind last minute. @Tiffany that’s what I figured. There ARE flights available on Singapore, just not business class. There’s also business availability on JAL to Tokyo, but nothing really from Tokyo to LA. She has a certain way of… doing things. Yeah…

Anyway, she doesn’t have the points for Korean air and I seriously doubt she’ll want to get another cc this close to the travel date.

Looks like it’s last minute on Virgin or nothing.

    Thanks everyone!
