Summer biz awards (AA) to Europe and beyond without BA?
Is there a best city pair to find AA transatlantic biz space to Europe in peak season 2016? Outside of the fact that I know I’m late to the party, how does one cross the pond without BA? There HAS to be something I’m missing.
Ultimate goal is 3 RT tickets (pref biz) to Greece from any AA hub. I live in Pittsburgh. I would even be happy with a Ryan Air ticket from wherever we land if that’s what it takes…suggestions? Maybe I can book Cathay from somewhere to Germany and get a budget airline from there to Santorini/Mykonos?

ChrisB if you look at http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.com/2014/06/08/american-aadvantage-award-routing-rules/ you will see that there is no way to transit a third region to Europe without having an award price as two separate tickets since there is no allowable transit region (which would be required for a CX ticket). You’ll just have to keep checking. Use the BA tool to search city pairs or consider hiring an award booking service? It may be difficult to find three together in J. Consider splitting your booking between Y and J to open up more options. AA will allow you to upgrade your reservation for only the mileage difference if additional space opens up. You can also ask the agent to query QMAX if you find two seats on AA metal to see if they will open up a third to complete the booking but don’t count on it, those requests have become harder to get.
Without BA in Oneworld?
Finnair to Helsinki
Iberia to Madrid
Airberlin to Berlin or Dusseldorf
Aer Lingus to Dublin after BA takes them over?
Possibly S7 since they seem to be in take over negotiations with TransAero. No, they don’t fly to the US as of today.
But as Gaurav says getting 3 J’s are hard.
