SQ from East coast to Europe
Ben,
I am thinking of going skiing in France (Chamonix) in late March and am OK with flying into CDG, GVA, or ZRH. I know that you can redeem SQ miles (transferred from Amex) on Partner airlines but not UA. I was wondering if the 15% online booking discount applies for partner awards and whether the routing that would show up would most likely be on: LH, SAS, LX (probably not unless they allow you to mix awards with B6), or AC.
Nope, the 15% discount is just for SQ awards. Most of the time it ends up being worthwhile to fly SQ to Frankfurt, then pick up a cheap flight separately to get to your final destination.
Though depending on where you’re based and the cost of paid tickets for your home airport to JFK and from FRA to Chamoinx, you may want to add a domestic United segment and a connecting LH segment and give up the 15% discount. Could be worth it.
Also look into SQ’s IAH-MAN route (unless youre traveling in the next 10 days, where it’s still IAH-DME…)
