SQ flight from HKG to BKK
Hi,
So I’ve tried booking an award for a one way flight from HKG to BKK using my krisflyer miles and when I try online. I get this error:
“The Origin and Destination you have selected constitutes a backtrack routing. Backtracking is not permitted except as required by routing restrictions. Backtracking occurs when a journey does not continue in the same direction as that in which it was begun”
Seems rather surprising that it’s not possible? I mean, it seems that it should be a common routing… Or it’s only possible to book by phoning them.
Ideally though, I’d like to book HKG-SIN-PEN (with a layover) and then PEN-BKK. Is that kind of routing possible with them?
I did notice that the award redemption chart is blank between zone 4 and zone 3…
If it’s not possible, I’ll use Cathay instead to book but I wanted to try SQ.
Yeah. It is true you can’t book HKG – BKK via SIN with SQ. Singapore airlines has very strict rules around backtracking. You could use Krisflyer miles to book TG airlines, however. I’m not sure if they would allow you to the PEN routing either.
I will call them. Is it better to call the Singapore office for those kind of questions?
