Singapore loophole
Singapore only departs from JFK, IAH, LAX and SFO in the US. Any SQ redemptions do not include transit to any of these cities. You must use the Star Alliance chart. As of now that might be a better deal than using the SQ chart.
LAX/SFO-SIN is 236,000 points in First Class on the new SQ chart effective 3/23. However the Star Alliance chart is 225,000 points. This would include a United connection to LAX or SFO (good luck with that anyway).
From JFK to SIN it’s 240,000 points in First Class on the SQ chart and 225,000 on the Star Alliance chart. Save 15,000 points with a connection.
To Europe you can fly IAH-MAN or JFK-FRA direct only for 65,000 in business and 76,000 in first (JFK only now that IAH is A350). Getting a Star Alliance connection is 65K and 80K with a connection in US AND Europe.
We’ll see how long it lasts.

Might not be long before they decide to update their Star Alliance chart as well………
