Should I switch to BA Avios from AAdvantage?
I have 2+M miles on AA so am a lifetime Platinum. Most years I don’t get to the Platinum Exec level so do not receive any systemwide upgrades, just the domestic upgrades. I now work in London so fly BA more than AA. My AA status just gets me BA club/boarding privileges but little else. Should I start to get my flights credited to BA Avios and gain status in order to improve my international upgrade chances?
Welcome @John LP – part of the equation will be: which do you value more – the status or Avios/AA miles?
If you plan to redeem the miles for non-stop, shorthaul flights then Avios works for you. If you plan to redeem for longhaul flights with connections then AA might be better. Of course with AA you’ll also need 4 segments on AA metal each year.
But if you’re not redeeming the miles right now and value the status instead, BA might be the better option.
BA all the way, especially for the US based peeps. PM me if you like.
