Open ? : SFO-> Europe – best option?

    So I need to be in Liverpool, England sometime mid-August next year and am totally open on how to get there… so I figured I’d ask for everyone’s opinion. Obviously looking at flights to London and Manchester, but also open to arriving somewhere else and spending time there before Liverpool. Options in my head:

Head up to Seattle for the Virgin Atlantic flight to London

Air France SFO to Paris (777 not 380)

Try to find space on the SFO to Manchester direct (how does the 330 compare with 787 on SEA-LHR route?)

Singapore IAH-MAN (but can’t figure out how to add the SFO-IAH w/out it being a separate cash ticket)
Anything obvious I’m missing? I’ve flown KLM on SFO-AMS (but haven’t spent time in Amsterdam), Air France A380 to CDG and BA A380 to LHR. Would like to avoid BA, but wouldn’t mind AF or KLM again.

    Plenty of points with everyone except Star Alliance. All suggestions welcome!

    Virgin Atlantic is decent enough, kind of fun. 787 is newer and 1-1-1 instead of 1-2-1 on the A330.

    AirFrance is best if the 777 has the new J seats. Otherwise, meh.

    SQ IAH-MAN would be great bit you cant add on the SFO-IAH leg unless you want to forefit the 15% online booking discount. Travel has to be solely on SQ for that to be valid. Could be worth it since you’d either be paying cash or getting a separate award ticket for the flight.

    Maybe AA LAX-LHR on their 77W or NZ LAX-LHR if youre lucky enough to find space.

    You could buy LifeMiles for the SFO-IAH leg. I think they’re 2-for-1 right now. With a simple domestic itinerary hopefully even their website could handle it.

    Disclaimer – I have never personally used LifeMiles, just know their reputation.

    Finnair going to start from SFO by then. A330 not 350 tho. KLM flies 787 on select days. I think SQ will have new business class on that route, the old seats are tired. Ua will have Polaris by then but not the seats. Get through ANA/Aeroplan . Or SAS from LA with ANA/Aeroplan no surcharge. That seat is awesome as is service and food. Lots of options!

    Thanks all for the comments. All helpful and gives me plenty to think about.

    Will need to research SAS a bit more. Unique option and would give me a new airline and city.

    Here is a review, another one coming next week. I’m very impressed with SAS
