Need help to pick: TG+NH in F vs. CX in F/J
Making a one way trip from SYD to SFO. Need the community’s help to settle between the following options.
Option 1:

TG Sydney-Bangkok in F

TG Bangkok-Narita in F

NH Narita-SanFrancisco in F

Costs 130k United miles
Option 2:

CX Adelaide-HongKong in J

CX HongKong-SanFrancisco in F

Costs 80k Alaska miles

Requires additional positioning flight from Sydney to Adelaide
I don’t mind the indirect routing for a more unique experience. What would you pick if these were your options?
How long are the layovers in BKK or HKG? You have TG’s great ground service at BKK and CX’s The Pier at HKG, which is worth planning a long connection over.
Personally, I’d lean a bit more towards TG and NH since its F all the way.
BKK: 11hr layover (overnight)
HKG: 11hr layover (during the day)
Curious if anyone here would prefer the CX (80k miles) option
It really depends on how many miles you have and your travel priorities… I’m sure both will be fine but F is usually better than J.
