Mixing Economy with Business on DL award

Mixing Economy with Business on DL award

  1. johnmaher New Member

I am trying to book an award from PHX-MSP-AMS-GVA. All the flights are available at low level in Business except the first flight from PHX-MSP which only has low level Economy. Can I combine the Economy flight from PHX-MSP(Delta) with the Business class flights from MSP-AMS(Delta) and AMS-GVA(KLM) on one award for 62,500 Skymiles or is it going to price additively?

I remember reading in a blog post on OMAAT that a combination like this might have trouble pricing if it was all DL metal. I am hoping that the inclusion of the KLM flight in Business might allow it price as one award.

@johnmaher – you should be able to do that though I bet you’ll have to call. And if that first segment should ever have business-level available they should be able to upgrade you for no additional miles.

You should be able to do that, but yes, as @MidSouth Skier mentioned you will have to call, but they might waive the phone reservations fee if it’s not bookable online. At least that is what they did for me. Tiffany did a post this summer with more information about this.

Here is a chart from that post:
