krisflyer stopover/open jaw inquiry
hi
im planning to do the following using krisflyer miles
Brisbane -> Penang (transit in Singapore) in business class
Penang -> Singapore (stop over in Singapore) -> melbourne in suites class
is it possible to do this and get the complimentary stop over as well? Also becuase i’m flying in different classes am i able to call and also get the 15% off as this is not bookable online?
Cheers in advance
Stephen
I would just book that as 2 one ways since its relatively simple and since you’re booking different cabins. For PEN-SIN-MEL it will also ask if you want a stopover. It’ll ask for a date for the SIN-MEL leg and recalculate the taxes. SQ charges $100 for a stopover. Also, the 15% off miles for booking online will be automatically applied.

yeah however i want to go first suites from sin to mel and online wouldn’t let me price them separately as penang to sing only is in business.
In that case, verify the space then call SQ. There shouldnt be a problem getting the 15% off since you cant book online, just remind the agent to apply it

I called them said it was doable however I’m confused how many points they want to charge me
Because business to Penang is 55000 points
First one way back is 75000 (however Penang to Singapore is business ) so I’m not sure if they added that as well so I should be paying 110500 points all up however they want 125375 points . Maybe I’ll call again
Well, your math is right. Maybe ask the agent to clarify how she came up with the price?

yeh they priced the penang to singpore as an additional.
do you know if you can do multi class redemptions for singapore airlines?
You can do multi-class redemptions on Singapore, we do it all the time.

Thanks all, was able to do it they even held it for me until my points got transferred! One more question. I’m coming from melbourne to brisbane do krislfyer do partner redemptions as well on the same redemption?
say im flying from Brisbane to SINgapore, am I able to fly Melbourne to Brisbane on Velocity then on singapore on the same booking? Cheers.
In this case, no you cannot. You’d have to do a separate booking. Their VA chart is different too, it’s a different number of points to an Aus/NZ to Aus/NZ redemption on SQ metal (for which the only candidate is CBR-WLG or WLG-CBR).
Just for interest, there are Star Alliance awards too, on which you can mix carriers, including SQ. But there is no domestic Star Alliance carrier in Australia. In any case, these awards generally require significantly numbers of points (and no 15% discount), so in most examples it’s not worth it to switch to a Star Alliance award to (say) tack on a flight to/from your home city on a local carrier.
