How to Search VirginAUS Awards on delta.com
How do I search for Virgin Australia award space using delta.com? My plan is to use my VirginAmerica Elevate points for travel.
When I use Delta’s search engine I am able to see Delta award travel at astronomical mileage. Does the fact that Delta is offering an award of any kind mean that the Virgin award is usable for that trip?
Thanks for the help,
Joan

Are you looking for award flights to/within Australia? Those should display on Delta’s website, if any are available.
For example, I looked on 5/12/18 for LAX-SYD using the Delta site. It found their own DL 41 flight but it also found VA 2 (both in economy).
Then look at the VX award chart (since those are the miles you’ll be using) and see that VX charges 25K one-way on that route in economy, 35K in premium economy and 45K in business class. I don’t think the Delta site will show you premium economy seats.
If you’re looking for travel in different regions let us know.

Thanks for the reply. I think that I understand. However, I should clarify that my goal is to use Virgin America Elevate points for the travel to/from AUS.
OK, then the way I outlined should work. You can ignore the prices you see on the Delta site, just look for flight numbers that begin with VA.
And if you’re looking for business class just realize that US-AUS is one of the hardest routes to find premium cabin award space, even booking 11 months out. And if you need multiple seats, that makes it that much trickier.
If you’ve got Expert Flyer, set some alerts for your travel dates to make it easier on yourself.

Awesome. Thank you for the very clear step by step.
Do you know if it’s possible to transfer AS miles into our Elevate accounts?
No, I’m not aware of any airlines that allow transferring miles from one program to another.

It’s based on the merger of AS and VirginAmerica. Right now there is a way to transfer Elevate Miles to the Alaska program…with a bonus. I’m just not clear on if the reverse is true.
Right, the reverse is NOT true. The VX program will be going away, eventually.
