How to book Alaska award for family using Avios?

How to book Alaska award for family using Avios?

Once I transfer Chase UR from my account to my British Airways Avios account, can I then call Avios to book an award ticket on Alaska for my sister?

Or do I need to create a family account on Avios first and then move the newly transferred points to my sister’s Avios account before I can book the Alaska award for her?

Never booked for others. Confused. Thank you!

You can call to book it for her – or just book it yourself on ba.com. With many carriers the credit card used must be in the same name as the person whose miles are being used.

To book an Avios award on Alaska Airlines, you must call British Airways. You cannot make the reservation on ba.com (you could if you were flying on American Airlines, but not AS).

I have booked many flights this way, including for friends and family who do not have an Executive account with British Airways. It is a slow process since all passenger details are carefully read back and verified, but you shouldn’t have any problems.
