honeymoon to thailand
Helping my daughter plan her honeymoon trip from Houston, Tx. to Bangkok. Due to lack of miles 🙁 have to travel economy but would like best flt available with least amt of stops. Thinking of Singapore Airlines due to nice economy service with possible stopover in Singapore for a day-thoughts?? Only issue is that it looks like only option is thru Moscow-(nervous going thru Russia) ??? Any help trying to book flights or ideas on other decent airlines/flights would be greatly appreciated. Any further info on flight info, best way to book or Thailand info would also be appreciated. Any chance of upgrading without breaking bank. lol thanks
Sally – flying through Russia shouldn’t be an issue. They’re only in the airport for an hour and 20 minutes so they won’t be actually entering the country. It could even be a very interesting experience!
They could route via the US west coast but it would take an additional stop between the US and Singapore (like NRT or ICN) which would just extend the travel time by another 3-4 hours.
When is the honeymoon trip? Maybe we can help come up with ways to use miles for at least part of it.
Maybe they could snag the Qatar’s (5-star ;);)) promotion? It is bookable until January 17th, you can travel between Jan19th and Dec15th, and Bangkok’s on the list of promo-destinations out of Houston. Hope it helps.
Don’t forget to tell the airline that you are on honeymoon. Upgrade could well be on the cards. Research the airlines more succeptible to such upgrades… There is a Norwegian flight to Bangkok from Norway Denmark or Sweden, you just have to get to those countries first. Norwegian will definitely upgrade you because of honeymoon. Norwegian is an obscure European low cost airline flying 787’s long haul. And you could get the flights from San Fran or Lax or NY or Florida into Denmark, Sweden or Norway for $160 per so and then around $190 for a trip from those countries to BKK.

Honestly, I wouldn’t count on a free upgrade.
