flying out of TPA biz class

    Hi Lucky,
This question is more for you or anyone else who flys out of tampa.

I finally have enough AA miles to redeem for a Business class ticket. I want to take a trip next year to Japan. My question is should I use my miles and leave out of TPA, but it wants me to do CRAZY routings eg: TPA -> CLT -> JFK -> NRT others had two stops as well.

Or I can position myself and set my initial destination as ORD and fly nonstop on JAL. Of course I’d have to pay for the flight to ORD. I do have status with AA so I wouldn’t pay for the bag and would much rather fly on JAL than AA with my miles. Thoughts?

Background – this would be a solo trip and my work is super flex with vacation policies.

Use BA or JAL’s search tools to find award space and then call AA to book. JAL space doesnt show up on AA’s website. Search for ORD-NRT or any other of their flights then ask AA to add in domestic connecting legs, assuming space is available.
