Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker but I am now so frustrated with Etihad that I decided its time to learn from you the options I have, whether it makes sense to continue in this failed relationship or not.

To give you a brief background; I moved from Silver to Gold to Platinum Guest within 3 months due to the tier miles I collected for business travel.

Living 5 minutes from Abu Dhabi Airport; I have the choice of Etihad or Qatar Airways; Emirates is too far in Dubai.

I tried to book a flight on Economy (L Class) to Toronto for December and I was hoping that my 180,000 miles can be used to upgrade. I was told that there are no upgradeable seats!!!

This has been the case consistently fort he past few months; I get vouchers for a special 50% off upgrades (miles) that I need to use within 6 months and I have not been able to use a single one because there are NO award seats available on any of the flights I book!

So what do you guys advise me? Forget the miles and Status Match with Qatar Airways and start fresh with them? Or is there a hidden way I can use to book my business class upgrade to Toronto? I Want my wife to experience this trip and to make it comfortable for us as we have a 1.5 year old!
